NCast’s New App Turns an Android Phone into a Touchpad Controller
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) December 14, 2010
NCast Corporation, an industry leader in high-resolution digital video recorders and streamers for presentation and lecture capture, has just announced the availability of an Android application for Confidence Monitoring and Control of its line of Presentation Recorders and Telepresenters.
This new application allows administrators, instructors and other personnel easy access to control and monitor their recording and streaming devices from an Android phone. With the forthcoming availability of Android tablets, the app converts these devices into easy-to-use and inexpensive touchpad controllers.
The Confidence Monitor screen presents the user with current information on the state of the recorder, including a snapshot of the image being streamed and live readout of audio levels. The Control Deck provides access to key functions for control of the device, including Session Start/Stop, Record Start/Stop/Pause/Continue, image Swap, and six source selector buttons for the Main and PiP inputs.
With this app on their phones, authorized users can manage NCast’s encoders without need for access to a PC or a touch-panel. An inexpensive Android tablet can substitute for more costly custom control panels to activate Presentation Recorders and Telepresenters.
The Presentation Recorder lineup includes five models of Hi-Def (720p) recorders and streamers that combine video and graphics capture with synchronized audio to allow customers to webcast and preserve for later playback company presentations, meetings, conferences, training sessions and classroom lectures.

PadMapper’s release of its Android app means more smart phone users than ever can enjoy a hassle-free search for apartments for rent. PadMapper, which layers an interactive Google map with apartment listings pulled from Craigslist, Apartments.com, ForRent and others, has adapted its online interface to take advantage of the Android’s screen size, allowing users to locate available apartments while on the go. Living up to the company’s tag line “making apartment hunting suck less,” the PadMapper Android app features customizable filters, a “favorites” list, and the ability to call and email about the best listings with the click of a button.
“A mobile PadMapper has always been part of the plan,” says Eric DeMenthon, Founder and President of PadMapper, Inc. “Apartment hunting requires you to always be on the move, not sitting in front of your computer. I’m glad ‘Droid users now have the opportunity to take advantage of what PadMapper has to offer.”
PadMapper’s Android app showcases the most well-known and well-loved features from the web interface. Icons on the Google map pinpoint available listings, which update when the customizable filters such as rental price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, or pet policy, are adjusted. The best listings can be tagged as “favorites,” and users can call or email landlords directly from the app with the touch of a finger.
The PadMapper app has been available on the iPhone since early 2009, and is already in its second phase. While the Android app is not as advanced, DeMenthon has big plans for it. “The ‘Droid app will catch up to the iPhone app in no time,” he says. “Eventually, I hope to see all mobile device users find their dream apartments with PadMapper.”
